Chris Paul's Biggest Nemesis Will Be On The Floor Tonight
Tonight's Game 6 of the NBA Finals is a literal must-win for the Phoenix Suns. The series is currently 3-2 with the Milwaukee Bucks just one win away from claiming the championship. The Suns have to play next-level basketball with very few mistakes to keep their hopes of the trophy alive.
This morning, they received some news that could make their chance of moving forward a bit harder. It was announced that Scott Foster will be one of the referees officiating tonight's game. Diehard Suns fans will likely groan with displeasure at that information. Why is Foster refereeing a big deal? It's because Chris Paul teams are 0-11 in the last 11 playoff games refereed by Foster. Although the Suns have won a single postseason game this season with Foster on the floor, it was a game when Paul was sitting due to COVID-19 health protocols. Simply put, Paul and his teams do not have a great record when Foster is in charge - especially when Paul is playing.
Suns coach Monty Williams has had some issues with the officiating of the series so far. He has remarked that the Bucks have gone to the free-throw line far too many times and blamed some of that on the refs. You can be sure that if things don't go well for the Suns tonight, Williams, Paul, and the rest of the Suns will have a few things to say about the referees...and just about everything else too.
