Andre Drummond Takes Shots at Lakers' Head Coach Frank Vogel on Instagram
Lakers center Andre Drummond took to his Instagram comments to voice his frustrations with his playing time this season. After a fan commented on his lack of dominance, Drummond responded with «tell ya'll coach to play me more and I could»
Drummond inked a deal to complete the 2020-2021 season with the Los Angeles Lakers after agreeing to a contract buyout with the Cavaliers in March. With Anthony Davis injured, the Lakers were looking for a dominant inside presence to both tide them over while waiting for Davis' recovery, and someone who could shore up the frontcourt upon his return.
Drummond started all 21 of his regular-season games with the Lakers but averaged his fewest minutes per game since his rookie season. Drummond's issues quickly came to light, resulting in Vogel opting to play veteran center Marc Gasol more often in the playoffs. Drummond finished the playoffs averaging just over 20mpg despite Anthony Davis' injury.
Drummond's comments appear to point towards his departure from the Lakers this offseason, and with few teams in need of his skill set, it appears that his next contract won't be anywhere near the size of his previous 5-year maximum deal.
