2 of the leagues best teams are emerging as favourites to land Dennis Schroder.
Dennis Schroder will always be remembered for his decision to decline a $84M dollar contract given by the Los Angeles Lakers, to go ahead and test out free agency because he thought he would get more.
Free agency hits, and Schroder decides to sign with the Boston Celtics for $5.9 million dollars instead. Taking a massive paycut, Dennis had to go out and ball. Unfortunately that was not the case.He then got traded to Houston mid year, and the Celtics went on to the NBA finals.
The first team favoured to land Schroder, is who other then the Los Angeles Lakers, Schroders former team.
Schroder commented on his former teammates Lebron James post saying « We gotta run it back».
If the Lakers dont end up getting Kyrie Irving, settling for Schroder at a low cost is not too shabby. I mean, it could have been worse, by paying him $84M instead.
The second team is the Miami Heat, who are not only focused on KD but want to address the need at the point guard with an aging Kyle Lowry at the helm.
According to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report he mentions that the Heat are a suitable fit both on the court and for the books for Schroder.
Of the teams with at least the taxpayer mid-level exception left, Miami makes the most sense for Schroder.
Schroder would be an important addition to the Heat, potentially starting during the regular season to give Kyle Lowry some rest before the playoffs.
Schroder averaged 13.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists between the Boston Celtics and Rockets and is just two years removed from finishing second in Sixth Man of the Year voting while with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He'd be a backup to Lowry here but could still receive good minutes for a team that just made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Look for the Heat to sign Schroder for 1 year around the $6M dollar range.
What a turn of effect for the veteran German point guard who is still in his prime.
