Reebok Names Shaq as Basketball President and Iverson as VP

Two NBA icons are making a grand comeback to the brand that played a pivotal role in their off-court stardom. Shaquille O'Neal takes the helm as the president of basketball, and Allen Iverson joins as his vice president, as revealed by Reebok CEO Todd Krinsky during an interview with Boardroom's Nick DePaula.

Krinsky emphasized the unique aspect of this partnership, saying,
"With this, we're actually bringing two of our legacy athletes together and having them be in real management positions within our company."

These strategic hirings align with Reebok's efforts to reestablish its position in the basketball market after parting ways with Adidas and coming under the ownership of Authentic Brands Group in March 2022. Both O'Neal and Iverson will play crucial roles in recruiting players for the brand. Additionally, Iverson will focus on enhancing Reebok's involvement in grassroots initiatives.

O'Neal, excited about his new role, expressed,
"A big part of my role will be leveraging my network to build bridges, connect the brand with players, and help those players develop through their partnership with Reebok."

This isn't the first time Reebok has been associated with these basketball legends. The company signed Shaquille O'Neal for the "Shaq Attack" series in 1992. After a hiatus, O'Neal returned in 2012 to relaunch the line. Iverson, on the other hand, made his debut with Reebok in 1996 with his "Question" shoes, which later evolved into the highly successful "The Answer" shoe line.

Reebok fans can anticipate the full relaunch of Reebok Basketball in early 2025. Current players, such as Miami Heat's Josh Richardson and Philadelphia 76ers' Montrezl Harrell, have already showcased retro Reeboks on the court.

O'Neal summed up their approach succinctly, stating,
"We just want to do things differently, which is what we were best known for back then and what we want to stay true to now."
