In a candid revelation, Andre Iguodala of the Golden State Warriors has announced his retirement from the NBA, citing the relentless physical toll his body has endured throughout his nearly two-decade-long career.

"Man, that stuff hurts. People don't realize what your body goes through, even the people closest to you," Iguodala expressed during his podcast, Point Forward. "Like you be in pain and they look at us, 'you always hurting.' Like, I need a new hip. I need 2 new knees. I need a new wrist now. I just thought it was time."

Battling Through Injuries

Throughout his illustrious career, Iguodala fought through a myriad of injuries, including a fractured wrist, for which he underwent surgery in the recent spring. He also grappled with neck spasms, hip problems, and knee issues that compounded his physical challenges.

A Storied Career

Iguodala embarked on his professional journey with the Philadelphia 76ers after being selected 9th overall in the 2004 NBA Draft. His stint with the 76ers continued until 2012, after which he spent a season with the Denver Nuggets before becoming a pivotal part of the Golden State Warriors. During his tenure with the Warriors, he secured four NBA championships, notably earning the Finals MVP accolade in 2015. His career further included a brief spell with the Miami Heat from 2019 to 2021.

Career Statistics

Over the course of his impressive career, Iguodala averaged 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
