Embiid can only miss another four games to become ineligible for the League MVP award. However, the Sixers might be thinking way past that at this point. The Sixers have already begun to fall in the standings in a surprisingly competitive Eastern Conference. An extended absence for Embiid could mean the Sixers falling further down the standings, it could also mean players less likely coming to the Sixers at the trade deadline. The Sixers have long been rumored to be looking for a third star. Jimmy Butler is a heavy favorite to end up in Philly. However, this injury, if long term, could put all of this on hold.
More to come on the details of the amount of time Embiid will be out, but we hope the big man gets well soon!
