Star Player to Undergo Knee Procedure

The Philadelphia 76ers have been here before with their MVP Joel Embiid, but it's hard to believe it happens every year. It has been reported that Joel Embiid will undergo a procedure in order to repair a displaced flap, a tear, of his left meniscus. It was also reported that the procedure will cause Embiid to miss extended time.

This is terrible news for the Sixers who had title aspirations. It seems like Philly are hopeful Embiid can get back for the playoffs, but what condition will he be in? Will he be able to be his dominant self?

This news comes at a horrible moment, as the sixers have lost 4 of 5 and slipped to slipped to 5th in the standings. They have a 4-10 record without Embiid this year and only have Paul Reed to back him up at this point.


Embiid is also now ineligible for any awards given out for regular season play under the 65-game requirement rule that has put in place. This is bad for all of the NBA as the fans deserve to see the best players play, when star players go down with injury, it effects the product on the court and the team and fans suffer. We wish Embiid the best and speedy recovery.
