Philadelphia 76ers Rumors: Kelly Oubre Jr. is set to make a move that will mark his fifth NBA team stint in his career. The seasoned wing is reportedly on the verge of sealing a one-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

During a rather underwhelming season for the Charlotte Hornets, Oubre stood out as a shining star. He achieved a career-high average of 20.3 points per game while contributing 5.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals on average.

His shooting stats, however, were less than stellar, with a 43.1 percent field goal percentage and a 31.9 percent three-point shooting rate. Furthermore, when Oubre was on the court, the Hornets struggled, being outscored by 7.7 points per 100 possessions, as per NBA.com. They fared slightly better, being outscored by 4.8 points per 100 possessions when he was on the bench.

Yet, due to multiple ankle injuries limiting LaMelo Ball to just 36 games, Charlotte relied heavily on Oubre's scoring ability. The Hornets had a tough season overall, finishing with a 27-55 record.

After the season concluded, Oubre expressed his desire to return to Charlotte, stating,
"All in all, I did play well in a lot of games, scoring points and all of that. It didn't come with wins. [The stats] didn't really affect much, the trajectory of the season. Yeah, it was all good to get the numbers, but I'm not a numbers guy. I'm not a guy who just cares about his stats. I'm somebody who wants to win."

However, instead of staying with the Hornets, Oubre is now set to join his fifth team in the NBA, having previously played for the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and the Hornets. The Philadelphia 76ers are counting on his versatile wing play to boost their postseason prospects.

In what has been a somewhat disappointing offseason for the Sixers, marked by James Harden's trade demands and limited player movement, Oubre's arrival should bolster the team's wing depth. With players like Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, De'Anthony Melton, Danuel House, and even Jaden Springer and Furkan Korkmaz available for wing minutes alongside Oubre, the Sixers appear well-equipped for the upcoming season.
