76ers Assets
While the Harden trade did give the 76ers a number of assets in good role players such as Marcus Morris and Robert Covington, the main haul from James Harden was the plethora of draft capital they acquired. They received four draft picks and one pick swap.

Due to the reigning MVP and franchise star, Joel Embiid, being in his prime and having immediate championship aspirations, Philadelphia feels that these draft pieces are almost invaluable to them. They are looking to use them in another trade to bring in one more star to complete their roster for the season.
Zach Lavine
With the Bulls on the brink of starting a complete rebuild, many of their players like DeRozan, Vucevic, and Lavine have been the subject of trade speculation all summer long. With the newly acquired draft capital, the 76ers may be able to convince the Bulls to commit to rebuilding and acquire their top star in the process.
Lavine is entering his 10th NBA season and is currently in the prime of his career, earning his only two All-Star appearances over the last three years. This timeline suits the 76ers perfectly as they are in win-now mode and would like to make the most of their time with the reigning MVP, Embiid.
Zach has adapted his game well since entering the NBA as a super athletic highlight-reel dunker and has become an all-around, skill-based offensive weapon. His consistency has been proven, averaging around 25 points per game for the last five seasons. Although he hasn't been able to lead his team deep into the playoffs, playing as a second option behind Joel Embiid may help him flourish into an even better player.
While he may not be as significant an addition as Lillard to the Bucks or Porzingis and Holiday to the Celtics, among the available options, Lavine may be the best option the Sixers currently have. With players like Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. stepping up this season, Lavine may not have to carry as heavy a load as you might think. Assembling a strong supporting cast around Embiid may be what helps the 76ers win their first championship since 1983.
