Josh Giddey Disowned by Thunder Teammate
The drama surrounding Josh Giddey and his alleged inappropriate actions with a minor continues, as his Thunder teammate Chet Holmgren appears to distance himself from the Australian star by deleting tweets.
Thunders Amazing StartAfter losing in the Play-in Tournament last season, the Thunder seem to have taken the next step in their progression. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has solidified his status as a certified superstar in the league, and with Chet Holmgren emerging as one of the top two rookies alongside Victor Wembenyama, the Thunder have a real chance at securing a guaranteed playoff position.
Starting 11-4 this season, the Thunder have discovered many key elements within their roster. Perhaps the most prominent is the blossoming friendship and on-court chemistry between Josh Giddey and Chet Holmgren. With just four months separating the two young players, they seemed to be developing a lethal on-court chemistry along with a very close off-court friendship—until the recent allegations. These accusations have led to Holmgren deleting tweets about the duo's relationship.
Holmgren Disowns Giddey
While the allegations have yet to be confirmed, there appears to be a lot of online evidence, including numerous videos featuring Giddey and the "minor," including one where she claims to have recently had an intimate encounter with the Thunder star. Despite the NBA's lack of action and Giddey's continued play, more personal connections are being severed.
For starters, his rumored $40 million sponsorship deal with the Australian breakfast product Weet-Bix is reportedly being severed. Additionally, his closest friend on the Thunder, Holmgren, has deleted tweets concerning their friendship.

Holmgren's deleted tweet was a repost showcasing his and Giddey's friendship, captioned "Me n twin locked in fosho." The distancing from Chet is undoubtedly casting a negative light on Giddey, suggesting implications of guilt. However, this might simply be Holmgren's attempt to avoid distractions as he currently vies with Wembenyama in what's considered the best Rookie of the Year battle in several years.
