Update: New Orleans Pelicans superstar Brandon Ingram undergoes MRI on his left knee
The New Orleans Pelicans have been on fire in the NBA lately, with Brandon Ingram playing a pivotal role in their success. Heading into Thursday's game against the Orlando Magic, the Pelicans had won 16 of their last 21 games. They are now within striking distance of the fourth seed in the Western Conference. Ingram, a two-time All-Star, has been contributing not only with his scoring but also with play making and defense. Unfortunately, Ingram suffered a knee injury during Thursday night's game. The team announced on Friday that an MRI revealed a bone contusion in his left knee. He will be reevaluated in two weeks, which is still 15 days before the start of the NBA playoffs.
Initially, the injury looked alarming for Ingram, but the latest update appears to bring some relief for the Pelicans.
The incident occurred early in the third quarter while defending Jalen Suggs. As Suggs drove to the basket, there was contact with Ingram, causing his left knee to bend awkwardly. Ingram fell to the floor in apparent discomfort and had to be assisted off the court.

Losing a player of Ingram's caliber is never easy for any team, but the Pelicans have been thriving lately, largely due to their depth. Trey Murphy III is more than capable of stepping up as a starter at forward, and Zion Williamson has been handling more of the ball-handling duties recently.
Should Ingram face an extended absence, expect Herbert Jones and Trey Murphy to step into larger roles. Jones brings versatility, while Murphy offers scoring potential and could see increased offensive involvement. Additionally, Williamson and CJ McCollum would likely assume some of Ingram's responsibilities.
New Orleans has surged up the Western Conference standings, battling with the Clippers for homecourt advantage in the postseason's opening round. While Williamson remains pivotal, the absence of Ingram would pose a significant challenge for the Pelicans in a playoff series.
