Zion Has High Expectations For The Pelicans This Season
Although often maligned for his recent, off the court adventures, Zion Williamson has heralded the onset of a new Big Three, which he predicts will be a force to be reckoned with in an already, highly competitive Western Conference.
Are Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, and Brandon Ingram the new Big 3 in the West?
When asked a refreshing basketball question for a change, about the future of the New Orleans Pelicans, Zion immediately pointed to the trio of CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, and himself, and how their first early scrimmages at training camp were awe inspiring.
It was the first time we stepped on the court together. As the scrimmage went on...I'm like, oh man.
Can Zion Williamson Stay Healthy Enough to Realize the Full Potential of the Pelicans
After coming off a disappointing 2023 season, which saw the Pelicans eliminated by the Oklahoma Thunder in the play-in game, and having struggled with recurring injuries, weight gain, and a flurry of personal laundry airings, Zion is motivated by what he considers to be a very versatile offensive profile for the Pelicans.
CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram are both inside and outside weapons, while Zion Williamson compliments these three level scorers with high jumping athleticism and a tenacious attention to offensive rebounding and rim attacking.
To Williamson, and perhaps as a cautionary warning to the rest of the NBA, this may be a viable premonition for the upcoming season, if he manages to stay healthy enough to complete what can arguably become, one of the most promising top three trios in the NBA.
