T.J. Warren set to join Timberwolves for the rest of the season
The Timberwolves are set to secure T.J. Warren for the remainder of the NBA season. Warren, a seasoned forward, initially joined the team on March 6 through a pair of 10-day contracts. In the seven games he's played, he's averaged 14 minutes and scored 4.1 points.
The signing, expected to be formalized on Wednesday, was confirmed by an NBA source. Warren, aged 30, was the 14th overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft from North Carolina State and spent his first five seasons with the Suns. He notably had a standout season with the Indiana Pacers in 2019-20, averaging a career-high 19.8 points per game. However, injuries sidelined him, including multiple foot surgeries that caused him to miss the entire 2021-22 season. He returned last season, playing 42 games with the Nets and Suns. With Karl-Anthony Towns out due to injury, the Wolves are counting on Warren to make significant contributions.
