Just In: The Timberwolves have made a new addition to their roster
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Timberwolves are set to sign forward Justin Jackson to a 10-day contract. Jackson has been active this season with the Texas Legends in the NBA G-League, posting solid averages of 19.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists across 19 games.
The 28-year-old forward last played in the NBA during the 2022-23 season with the Celtics. He was traded to the Thunder at last season's deadline, only to be waived the following day. Drafted 15th overall by Portland in 2017, Jackson has had stints with six NBA teams, including a championship run with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021. Throughout his NBA career, he has maintained averages of 6.0 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
Following the trade deadline, Minnesota finds itself with an available roster spot, having traded Troy Brown Jr. and Shake Milton to Detroit for Monte Morris. With the team boasting a healthy and deep roster, the likelihood of Jackson seeing game time seems slim, suggesting his arrival may serve primarily to bolster the practice squad. Despite this, the Wolves maintain a 1.5-game lead atop the Western Conference as they prepare to resume action against the Bucks on Friday at 9 p.m. CT after the All-Star break.
