Damian Lillard's Divorce: A Life-Altering Move After Trade to the Bucks
In recent developments, star NBA point guard Damian Lillard is experiencing a major life change.Legal Proceedings Unfold
Court documents, unveiled this week, reveal that Damian Lillard filed for divorce from his wife, Kay'La Lillard, on October 2. Sophie Peel of Willamette Week reports that the divorce filing cites "irreconcilable differences" as the main factor behind the dissolution of their marriage. This legal action took place in Clackamas County Circuit Court, Oregon City, Oregon. The filing would suggest that in December 2022, Kay'La Lillard moved into a $2.7 million West Linn home, while Damian Lillard remained in the couple's $7.7 million West Linn mansion. According to filings, Lillard moved in September of this year to a home in Tualatin.
College Sweethearts to Family Life
Damian and Kay'La were college sweethearts at Weber State University and have three young children together. They tied the knot in September 2021 after more than a decade of dating. While Kay'La mostly remained out of the public eye, she created some memorable viral moments with Damian, with the latest being just last year.
A Career Transition
The seven-time All-Star, Damian Lillard, underwent a significant career move when he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks on September 27. This marked the end of his remarkable 11-year tenure with the Portland Trail Blazers. What's striking is that the divorce filing occurred a mere five days after this trade. Although reports suggest that the couple had been living apart since at least December of the previous year, it's clear that Damian Lillard is currently navigating multiple major life changes this offseason.
