NBA star Damian Lillard co-founded Move, producing insoles born from his own foot injuries for athletes and everyday comfort. As foot health gains importance, Lillard ventures beyond the $150 billion sneaker market, where Dr. Scholl's stands as a notable player in the insole sector.

Dealing with various foot injuries, including plantar fasciitis, throughout his NBA career, Lillard, now a Portland Trailblazers All-Star point guard, identified a lack of support from standard insoles. This realization led him, with support from agent Nate Jones, to launch Move, a performance insoles brand, aiming to benefit both professional athletes and individuals with active lifestyles.

«Foot health is something that I think a lot of people could really benefit from paying closer attention to, We can do nothing without healthy feet as athletes.»

Lillard shared with CNBC's Dominic Chu during CNBC's Small Business Playbook virtual event.

The company, featuring NBA star investor Chris Paul, debuted in December 2021, offering insoles from $39.99 with a carbon-like composite base, dual-foam for shock absorption, and added torsional support. Achieving over $100,000 in sales within the first month through direct-to-consumer channels, it anticipates reaching $1 million in sales for 2022, as per previous CNBC reports.

Lillard believes that as awareness grows about the significance of foot health, Move will not just become a staple in NBA locker rooms but will also step into the footwear of various professionals.
