Jimmy Butler is Set to Leave Miami
Is it time for the Miami Heat to free Jimmy Butler? Kendrick Perkins went on to say yesterday that it is. Jimmy Butler deserves to win a title, or at least compete for a team that will be in the running for one. If Jimmy is made available, teams will line up for his services and the Heat will surely get a king's ransom in return.
Teams like the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers come to mind when thinking of where Butler would fit. The 76ers can rectify their terrible mistake when they chose Ben Simmons over Jimmy Butler a few years back. Butler went on to compete in the Finals, Simmons went on to be the laughingstock of the NBA.
Butler this year is averaging 21.1 points per game, 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 49.1% from the field. As we have seen in the past however, Butler tends to turn into a superhuman player from mid-February forward.
Miami right now is in 7th place in the East, which would qualify them for a play-in round, but do the Heat really have the talent to compete with the East's big three teams in Boston, Milwaukee and Philly (pending Embiid's Health)? Butler deserves a shot at a title with a contender, Miami should grant him that.
