NBA legend tells how he played at 400 pounds!
Shaquille O'Neal's Shocking Weight Transformations
In a recent interview with Tom Brady on SiriusXM Sports, Shaquille O'Neal, one of the greatest NBA players of all time, revealed startling details about his weight during the Lakers' 2002 championship win. While discussing his prime years with the Lakers, O'Neal, renowned for his dominance, disclosed details that had remained largely unknown to the public. He was famous for his imposing physical presence, but it turns out he was even more massive than previously believed.
Early Years
During his rookie season with the Orlando Magic, O'Neal had a relatively modest weight of 285 pounds. However, as he encountered a growing number of fouls and physical challenges in the NBA, he made the decision to bulk up. But it didn't end there.
O'Neal explained,
"In our first championship, I weighed 345 pounds, and after a fantastic summer, I returned at 385 for the second one. In our last championship, I reached an astounding 415 pounds."
To put this into perspective, O'Neal's official weight during the Los Angeles Lakers' triumphant three-peat from 2000 to 2002 was 325 pounds. If his claim of weighing 415 pounds is accurate, he would hold the record as the heaviest player in NBA history. No player has ever officially crossed the 400-pound mark.
Nonetheless, this remarkable weight fluctuation did not impede O'Neal's on-court performance. He earned the title of Finals MVP in all three championship victories, solidifying his place as one of the greatest players to have ever graced the basketball court.
