Kevin Porter Jr Rejects Plea Deal
The latest update on Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. reveals that he has rejected a plea deal in his latest court visit. Porter was arrested in September for strangling his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick (formerly of the WNBA).
latest Court AppearanceAssistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer has stated that a charge of second-degree assault is being thrown out due to a lack of evidence, and a congenital defect in Kysre was mistakenly identified as a cracked neck vertebrae. Despite this, Porter still faces charges of third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation, which, if convicted, could send him to jail with a maximum 7-year sentence. With the lesser assault charge, Porter was offered a plea deal with a condition of mandatory counseling, but he rejected this deal.
Don't let the headline fool you. While the most significant charge (second-degree assault) was dropped, KPJ is still being charged with second-degree strangulation & third-degree assault.
No plea deal was agreed to. His next court date is November 27. https://t.co/cLo4feJ9zo— David Weiner (@BimaThug) October 16, 2023
Houston Rockets Perspective

It is unknown right now what the Rockets intend to do with Porter, but they have signed Dillon Brooks, who can fill his role in the meantime. They have also been rumored to be seeking potential trades for Kevin Porter Jr.
Porter Jr's next court date is November 27.
