Curry opens up on the importance of suspending Draymond Green
The Warriors are currently undergoing a rare bad run of form. They have won only 2 of their last 9 games. However, with the returning Draymond Green expected to play in their next game, the Warriors hope to turn things around.
Warriors Bad FormWhile the Warriors aren't quite the championship contenders they have been in years past, this offseason looked promising for Golden State. With their new-look roster, many fans were expecting them to make one final championship run. However, things haven't turned out great so far.
With their main core of players reaching their mid to late 30s, some regression was expected, but nobody anticipated what has happened. Former All-Star Klay Thompson is having his worst-ever season, averaging fewer points than in his previous 9 years. Additionally, Stephen Curry, now 35, has already missed two games due to injury this season. However, the final straw was Draymond Green's suspension, causing him to miss the last 5 games.
Green's Suspension
Draymond is renowned for his on-court intensity, a quality that has greatly contributed to his defensive prowess. He has served as the defensive anchor for the Warriors for the past decade and even earned a DPOY award for his exceptional efforts. However, the downside of this intensity is that Green can sometimes get carried away and take things too far.
Examples of this behavior can be found in almost every single season, costing the Warriors numerous games, including critical ones in the NBA Finals when he was suspended in 2016. His latest suspension, however, marks one of the most egregious incidents yet. During an on-court confrontation, Green began choking out Rudy Gobert, an action broadcasted live on TV.

Fortunately for the Warriors, this suspension has now been served. Yet, Green's absence could have made a significant difference in 3 of the 5 games where the Warriors suffered defeats. Now, returning just in time for a crucial tournament game, Green is gearing up to play against the Kings, and Curry has revealed how important his return is for the team.
Curry Reveals Draymond's Importance
After scoring 35 points in the Warriors' latest victory over the Spurs, Curry spoke to the media about several topics, including the return of his longtime teammate, Draymond Green.

Curry expressed the team's excitement for Green's return, emphasizing that his comeback will significantly elevate the team. He mentioned Green's defensive prowess and highlighted his leadership skills, particularly in how he communicates on the court.
"I know Draymond's excited to come back, we're excited to have him. We need him"
"Draymond being back helps alot, not just because of what he does defensively but the way he communicates"
