Detroit Pistons rookie Ausar Thompson and Center Isaiah Stewart are shut down for the remainder of the season
The Detroit Pistons received unfortunate news as rookie forward Ausar Thompson will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a blood clot, as announced by the team on Wednesday.
Adding to their woes, the Pistons revealed that center Isaiah Stewart will also miss the rest of the season due to a right hamstring strain sustained during the third quarter of their recent loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday.According to the Pistons, Thompson has been given the green light to resume conditioning and will commence non-contact basketball activities after the conclusion of the regular season. It's anticipated that he will be fully recovered before the start of the next season.
Thompson, 21, showcased an average of 8.8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 63 games (38 starts) this season after being chosen as the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

«Both Thompson and Isaiah Stewart are big blows to the team,» Williams said. "These are two guys that are starters for us and helped us in a number of ways in every facet of the game. We do have a next man up mentality, but we are grateful our guys are OK and are going to see great care and still be around the program.»
Detroit has been competing with Washington and San Antonio to secure the NBA's worst record this season.
