Luka's Shocking Angry Gesture Toward a Fan
While it's acknowledged that NBA players often endure inappropriate remarks from opposing fans, Luka Dončić's actions on Wednesday are raising eyebrows. In the fourth quarter of the game against the Phoenix Suns, where the Dallas Mavericks were on the verge of a 132-109 defeat after once holding a 16-point lead, Dončić took the unusual step of requesting the ejection of a fan. As the Mavericks trailed by double digits, Dončić singled out the fan for security intervention.
The provocative taunt, as reported by ESPN's Tim MacMahon:"Luka, you're tired! Get your ass on the treadmill!"
Enduring fitness jabs might be the least of Dončić's concerns this season. The fan's relentless harassment, starting from the first half, reached an odd climax with the "tired" comment, as Dončić revealed to reporters.
"He was cursing me the whole first half, too, I never want to eject a fan. They pay for tickets. But I reached a point where it's a bit frustrating."
Dončić remarked.
Dončić's 34-point effort wasn't enough as the Mavericks lost to the Suns. Despite a strong start, Devin Booker led a third-quarter surge, turning the game around by 25 points. Technical fouls were handed out, and the loss places the Mavericks at 24-20, eighth in the Western Conference, with a 2.5-game lead for a play-in spot but two games behind direct playoff qualification.
