Slovenian star Luka Doncic showcased another masterclass this week, leading the Mavericks to an absolute rout against the Utah Jazz. Not only did he hand the Jazz their most significant defeat since relocating to Utah, but Doncic also set a new record with a stunning and exceptional first-half performance.

Mavericks Destroy Jazz

While many younger fans might not be aware that the Jazz used to play in New Orleans, some of their older fans might be wishing they still did after last night's disastrous performance. The team's defeat by 50 points marked the largest loss in "Utah" Jazz history. Despite the overwhelmingly poor performance, there was a small glimmer of hope for Jazz fans.

Rookie Taylor Hendricks stood out amidst the tough night, displaying significant potential in only his third game this season. He achieved a career-high 10 points, including shooting 2/4 from the 3-point range. However, his standout performance was on defense, where he recorded a block and 2 steals in limited action.

Despite Hendricks' efforts, they were no match for the MVP-caliber season Luka Doncic is having. Doncic finished the game with a 40-point triple-double, leading the Mavericks to their 12th win of the season. While his overall performance was outstanding, it was his first-half performance that notably stood out, leading him to break an NBA record.

Doncic Breaks NBA Record

At 24 years old, Doncic has already shattered numerous NBA and basketball records, including a scoring record he set at this summer's FIBA World Cup. With the inevitable absence of aging stars like Curry, LeBron, and Durant, Luka has unquestionably positioned himself as the face of the next generation. His performance last night could very well cement his status as the current face of the NBA.

The record he achieved was becoming the first player in NBA history to notch 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, all within a single half. It's a stat line that most NBA players have never achieved through a full game of their entire careers. For Doncic to accomplish this feat in just half of a game speaks volumes about the exceptional talent he possesses.
