Hornets interview JJ Redick for coaching job
Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Charlotte Hornets are currently interviewing JJ Redick for their head coaching vacancy. Redick, a 15-year NBA veteran and former star at Duke, has recently expressed interest in transitioning into coaching.
During his NBA career, Redick played for six teams, including notable stints with the Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Clippers, and he averaged 12.8 points along with 2.0 rebounds across 940 regular-season games.
Redick has also made significant strides in media, becoming the first NBA player to launch a weekly podcast during the regular season back in 2016 with Yahoo! Sports. He later moved his podcasting efforts to LeBron James' media company Uninterrupted, and then to The Ringer in 2017. In 2020, Redick branched out to start his own YouTube channel and co-founded the media company ThreeFourTwo Productions. His current podcast, "The Old Man and the Three," which he hosts alongside Tommy Alter, began in August 2020 inside the NBA bubble. The show has accumulated over 320 million views on YouTube and maintains a 4.8-star rating on Apple Podcasts.
In March 2024, Redick and LeBron James launched a new podcast, "Mind the Game," which is co-produced by their respective production companies and focuses on in-depth basketball discussions.
