Ben Simmons' controversial statement to Sixers fans
It has been almost two years since Simmons parted ways with the Sixers. Daryl Morey orchestrated the trade, sending the All-Star guard, along with Seth Curry and Andre Drummond, to the Brooklyn Nets in return for James Harden. Despite the passage of time, Sixers fans have not forgotten the prolonged saga he ignited.
As anticipated, Simmons was not welcomed warmly by the Philadelphia crowd. Upon entering the game for the first time, he was greeted with resounding boos.Simmons had the last laugh as the Nets beat the Sixers 136-121. Despite playing 13 minutes off the bench and scoring zero points, he managed nine rebounds and five assists. When asked about the crowd's response, Simmons shrugged it off, finding the boos amusing.
"This is what my second, third time coming back? So it's a little different now. It's funny to me. I got grown men pissed off and yelling at me ya know. I just go hime after this and get the win. To me, I'm all about winning...It's fun, I enjoy that. It's not that deep."
Since his departure from the Sixers in 2022, Simmons has only appeared in 49 games for the Nets. During this time, he has maintained averages of 6.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
