With less than a week until the NBA season officially tips off Boston Cuts forward/center Wenyen Gabriel.

Former Laker

Wenyen went undrafted in 2018 but found his way signed to the Sacramento Kings that same season. In the 5 years since, Gabriel has played games for 7 NBA franchises as well as 2 G-League affiliates.

The Los Angeles Lakers is the team for which Gabriel has played the most games. Last season, he made 68 appearances and averaged 15.1 minutes.

After the Lakers' conference finals loss, they looked to improve their roster by adding bigs Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood, therefore taking Gabriel's place.

Celtics

Despite signing a 1-year contract, Gabriel has been waived before making an official appearance for the Celtics. However, he did play in 3 preseason matches where he scored a total of 7 points and grabbed 8 rebounds over 25 minutes.

With the Celtics trading for Porzingis this offseason and having flexible players such as Tatum and Horford who can both take minutes at the power forward position when needed, it was unlikely that Gabriel would see very much playing time in Boston this season.
