Breaking : It is now confirmed for Dejounte Murray
If the Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up for a significant move before the Feb. 8 trade deadline, their eyes are fixed on Dejounte Murray. According to The Athletic's Jovan Buha on the HoopsHype podcast, the Lakers have singled out the Atlanta Hawks guard as their top priority.
Given the less-than-ideal outcomes of the Hawks' backcourt experiment, the Lakers are focusing on strengthening their guard positions. This comes as LeBron James has assumed an elevated role as the primary point guard. Although Terry Rozier is no longer an option, the Lakers still have choices in the market, including Murray, Bruce Brown, and Tyus Jones. These are the prospective teams he might join: the Sixers, Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs.
He maintains an average of 21.4 points, 5.0 assists, 5 rebounds, shooting at 46.8% from the field, and plays an average of 34.8 minutes per game.
Buha recently mentioned that the Lakers are focused on acquiring "difference-makers" to address specific team needs, such as three-point shooting, perimeter speed, and athleticism. Murray, known for aggressive defense and scoring, could be a solution. However, hurdles exist, with a potential third team involvement due to the Hawks seeking long-term assets and aiming to avoid taking D'Angelo Russell's contract. The Lakers, currently in ninth place with a 22-23 record, face a crucial two weeks to enhance their playoff contention in the competitive Western Conference.
