Warriors Trade Rumour: Chris Paul For $120 Million Star

With a numerous ongoing issues plaguing the Golden State Warriors this season, they've been linked to numerous trades in hopes of recovering from their early-season struggles.

The current rumor mill suggests the Warriors are in talks with the Charlotte Hornets to acquire former All-Star Gordon Hayward. While he's clearly overpaid on his current deal, Hayward is in the final season of his four-year contract with the Hornets.

Once a very promising player, Hayward has struggled to return to full form since his unfortunate ankle injury in 2017. This year, he's averaging 15.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.



Warriors Need For a Wing

While they acquired Paul this summer, this trade actually makes a lot of sense for the Warriors. Paul occupies the same position as Curry, who's having an MVP-level season, while other positions on the court are struggling.

The inability to field both Paul and Curry simultaneously could make acquiring Hayward their best option. Hayward could step in for the underperforming Wiggins and Thompson and might even take minutes from Draymond Green, who is indefinitely suspended.

Best Fit For Hayward

Even with the struggles they've endured this season, the Warriors hold a record of only 12-14. The season seems salvageable, and it might take just a slight change to turn their fortunes around, which could motivate Golden State to consider this deal.

Given that Hayward is in the final year of his contract, it reduces the financial risk compared to other trade scenarios. Moreover, his offensive versatility, shooting at 46.6% this year on a much thinner roster, leads many to believe that the Warriors would be an ideal fit for him.
