NBA Commissioner Shocking Revelations on Miles Bridges Suspension
Prior to the much-anticipated return of Hornets star Miles Bridges, the NBA Commissioner sat down with Sportsnet to disclose the details on his suspension.
Suspension DetailsBridges has been absent from NBA action for almost 600 days. He missed the entirety of last season after opting for a no-contest plea regarding alleged charges of domestic abuse by his former partner. Additionally, the NBA imposed a 30-game suspension, with 20 games credited from his previous absence and a further 10 games to start this season.
With the suspension completed, Bridges is now eligible to return to action tonight against the Bucks. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver appeared on Sportsnet to shed light on the details surrounding the suspension and Bridges' imminent return.
Adam Silver Speaks Out
While his appearance covered various talking points, the most notable conversation with the Commissioner centered around Bridges' absence. Silver emphasized that while the allegations were indeed serious, not all details were made public. He highlighted the necessity for thorough investigations before imposing suspensions.
"Unless you're intimately into the facts of each case, you have to understand that the result is based on an investigation and a very deep understanding, at last the best we're in position to do so to understand exactly what happened. "
Silver also empathized with the players' perspective, stating that if allegations were proven true, there would naturally be repercussions. However, until proven, it wouldn't be fair to penalize players solely based on accusations.
"Put yourself in that player's shoes or anybody in which there's an allegation, everybody is entitled to due process and everyone is entitled to a fair hearing... Until there are findings there it would be unfair to punish a player or anyone"
